This official e-Melaka portal is developed in the year 2003 in conjunction with the “Melaka ICT Year”. It was inspired by YAB Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, Malacca's Chief Minister after his official visit from Seoul, Korea. The main purpose of this e-Melaka Portal is created is to facilitate the participant of e-Melaka Program (Free Computer Training Program for Melaka Citizen) to gain valuable knowledge or information through online. Beside that, this e-Melaka Portal is also been used as a gateway to the other website which containing useful information arranged specifically for anyone who surf or browse the e-Melaka Portal.

In this e-Melaka Portal there are 12 flagships that was inspired by YAB Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, Melaka Chief Minister and those flagship are e-Kerajaan, e-Pelajaran, e-Dagang, e-Belia, e-Masjid, e-Media, e-Komuniti, e-Pelancongan, e-Politik, e-Kesihatan, e-Sekuriti dan e-Wanita. The contents for each flagship is divided into 4 categories; Definition, Online Application, General Information and also Related Link to the flagship itself. .

E-Melaka Portal list down and link every application / system that are related to the e-Melaka flagship where these applications will enable the visitor to interact or use the system for their own purposes For example, the application / system that check the poverty aid application status. In this particular application/ system, the applicant can just access the application in the e-Kerajaan flagship and they only need to insert their IC Number in order to check their application.

E-Melaka Portal visitor can get the general information regarding to each flagship that are provided. For example, in e-Kerajaan, there is information about the usage of One Number Call Center (ONCC) line. The visitor can know on how to make a phone call and knows well the code for each department which been facilitate by the ONCC.

Each flagship is provided with the related link. The e-Melaka portal is being used as a gateway by the e-Melaka visitor for them to search or gain valuable knowledge and information. Therefore, in each E-Melaka flagship, there are much more link attached to every flagship. For example, in the e-Wanita flagship there is a link to the collection of cooking recipe part. With just the simple click, the visitor will straight away go to the content of cooking recipe without need to go the main page of the website itself.
